Read emails from Outlook are not syncing in Mail app

I recently upgraded to the latest ios.

Once an email lands in my inbox in my outlook account on my laptop, if I mark it as unread it will not synce and appear in my Mail app on my phone.

It seems that the only emails I receive on my phone are emails that are marked as unread on my laptop.

What is the issue?

I have checked all email settings and they are correct compared with my colleagues as this is a work email.

Please help
